The mother of Bengaluru-based techie Atul Subhash, who died by suicide over alimony and harassment allegations by his wifeepoch game, filed a habeas corpus plea in the Supreme Court seeking the custody of her four-and-a-half-year-old grandson.
As per a report by India Today, Atul's mother asserted that the child's whereabouts are currently unknown as Atul's estranged wife and his in-laws, who are in custody now, refused to disclose any information about the child's location.
Taking cognisance of the matter, the apex court issued a notice to Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Karnataka governments as all the three states found mention in the case.

Atul Subhash married Nikita Singhania, a software professional, in 2019. Subhash was facing nine cases, including charges of attempt to murder, dowry harassment, unnatural sex, and many others.
34-year-old Atul Subhash was recently found dead in his Bengaluru home in the Manjunath Layout area. He left behind a 24-page suicide note and a 90-minute video where he elucidated allegations of harassment and extortion against his wife and her family.
Last year, India won the title at home, making them the only team to bag four titles in the history of the tournament.

The suicide note included extensive details of years of emotional distress from marital issues, multiple cases filed against him, and harassment by his wife, her relatives, police said.
Based on Atul's video and suicide note, Nikita Singhani, her mother Nisha Singhania, brother Anurag Singhania, and uncle Sushil Singhania have been charged with abetment of suicide.

Amid a widespread public reaction over the incident, police arrested Atul's wife in Haryana's Gurgaon, while his wife's mother, brother, and uncle were held in Uttar Pradesh's Allahabad.
On December 13, an anticipatory bail application was filed by Nikita Singhania, her mother Nisha, her brother Anurag, and her uncle Sushil, in the Allahabad High Court.
However, the court observed that since Nikita, Nisha, and Anurag had already been arrested by Bengaluru police on Sunday and remanded to judicial custody for 14 days, their application for transit anticipatory bail had become irrelevant. Therefore, the hearing proceeded only for Sushil Singhania’s case.
However, the Allahabad High Court granted transit anticipatory bail to Sushil Singhaniaepoch game, the uncle of the estranged wife of the deceased.
